Support for the "Blue Economy Project to Nurture a Rich Sea" in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture

IINO Kaiun Kaisha, Ltd. (IINO Lines) has decided to support the "Blue Economy*Project to nurture a rich sea" in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, with which we have a long-standing relationship in the shipping business, as our vessels have made port calls there. We have also donated to Shunan City through the corporate version of hometown tax payment.

The city is promoting the creation of a livable, safe, and vibrant fishing village and is implementing initiatives to promote sustainable fisheries development. This project aims to create a blue economy in the sea area facing Tokuyama-Kudamatsu Port, including not only fisheries resources such as tiger puffer fish and octopus but also expanding blue carbon offsets such as seaweed beds and tidal flats. Among these projects, we support the Blue Carbon Promotion Project, which aims to create and expand eelgrass and other blue carbon ecosystems based on the Oshima Tidal Flat.

IINO Group has set "Preserving Biodiversity" as one of its materiality issues. We will continue to promote activities for "Preserving Biodiversity" and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

*Blue Economy: A concept that aims to balance the conservation of the marine environment and economic development through the sustainable use of marine resources.
