Beginning of Operation in the Akita Sarukawa Solar Power Plant

IINO Kaiun Kaisha, Ltd. (IINO Lines) is pleased to announce that the Akita Sarukawa Solar Power Plant (hereinafter referred to as " the Power Plant"), which is owned by a limited liability company wholly owned by IINO Lines, has started operation today. The Power Plant utilizes idle land owned by Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "JAPEX") in Oga City, Akita Prefecture, receiving development support from JAPEX. Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) (*1)on joint projects for solar power plants, IINO Lines and JAPEX aim to work together to develop solar power plants with a cumulative capacity of approximately 30 MW by 2030.

The electricity generated from the Power Plant will be divided into "Power value" (*2)  and "Environmental value" (*3). The Power value will be sold to the wholesale electricity market, and the Environmental value will be supplied as certificates to IINO Lines' real estate business. This will enable IINO Lines to procure stable and long-term environmental value from the Power Plant, and reduce approximately 291 tons of CO emissions annually.

In our mid-term management plan, "The Adventure to Our Sustainable Future" formulated in May 2023, we have set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In the real estate segment, the company aims to reduce total Scope1 and Scope2 greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by FY2030 compared to FY2013. IINO Lines will continue to promote sustainability initiatives toward the realization of a sustainable society.
